Lava stone

Lava is the name given to molten rock expelled by a volcano during an eruption, and the resulting rock after solidification and cooling. This formation cools and solidifies much quicker than intrusive igneous rocks which are formed from magma that cools and solidifies within the Earth’s crust. Lava stone is a natural volcanic rock that is quarried, cut into slabs, topped with an enamel glaze, and fired at a very high heat. Many different shapes and objects can be created from lava stone that way. Very popular are surfaces for lava stone cooking as lava stones retain heat without the risk of being exposed to an open flame. It is also very high in demand in interior design and jewellery creation as it is known for its cleansing and healing qualities.
