Types of Crystal Jewellery Settings

The versatility of crystal jewellery settings allows you to design handmade jewellery. Use pre-made necklace, earring, bracelet or ring settings or use individual setting pieces.

Fancy Stones setting can be created using 3 methods:

• Prong Setting - 4 prongs that you push down to secure the crystal.
• Cupped Setting - simply require a drop of jewellery glue into the cup, place the stone inside.
• Sew On Setting - sew with wire to jewellery or strong thread onto soft furnishings, bags or clothing.

How To Use A Prong Crystal Jewelley Settings

Tools:

• Pronged crystal jewellery setting of your choice.
• Fancy Stones to fit into the setting.
• Pliers
• Small piece of cloth

1. Place the Fancy Stone Crystal into the open claw of the setting.
2. Place small piece of cloth over the open claw.
3. With the pliers, press each open claw down towards the crystal, make sure the cloth is in between the claw and pliers (this protects the metal from scratches).

How To Use A Cupped Crystal Jewelley Settings

Tools:

• Cupped crystal jewellery setting of your choice.
• Fancy Stones to fit into the setting.
• Jewellery Glue
• Cloth

1. Add a small amount of glue to the cupped setting. If you apply too much glue it will come out the top when you push the crytal in.
2. Push the crystal into place.
3. Quickly wipe away any excess glue.

How To Use A Sew On Crystal Jewelley Settings

Tools:

• Sew-on crystal jewellery setting of your choice.
• Fancy Stones to fit into the setting.
• Jewellery wire or needle & thread
• Pliers
• Small piece of cloth

1. Sew the setting using jewellery wire ) or strong thread for applying onto material.
2. Place the Fancy Stone Crystal into the open claw of the setting.
3. Place small piece of cloth over the open claw.
4. With the pliers, press each open claw down towards the crystal, make sure the cloth is in between the claw and pliers (this protects the metal from scratches).
